Dance

Felix Varela’s Dance program is a nationally recognized Fine Arts program offering students the opportunity to perfect their dance and performance skills in a professional, nurturing environment. Student experience ranges from beginner to pre-professional. Elective courses offered include Choreography, Performance, Ballet, Dance Techniques, Dance Repertory and Multicultural Dance Studies.

Students can expect to learn contemporary and traditional dance concepts in state of the art facilities equipped with stage lighting, sound system, ballet barres, marley flooring and full length mirrors.

Viper dancers are encouraged to find their artistic voice and express their creativity through movement while being taught to think critically and independently. Student performance opportunities include 4 annual school shows, community events and pep rallies.

Dance Program Alumni have moved on to dance for collegiate programs such as FAU’s Dance Team, FIU’s Dazzlers Dance Team, FSU’s Golden Girl’s Dance Team. As well as professional sport entertainment teams like the NBA’s Miami Heat Dancers, NFL’s Dolphin Cheerleaders and MLB’s Marlins Mermaids and Energy Squad. Alumni have received scholarships from prestigious dance academies such as The Joffrey Ballet School and “Will-da-beast” Adams’ Hip Hop dance foundation.

Graduates have found employment working in professional dance companies such as Alvin Ailey based in New York. Many dancers combined their love of dance and entrepreneurship to become dance studio owners, choreographers and dance teachers throughout the community.

The school also offers an extracurricular dance club. The Enchanter’s Dance Team have won 4 National titles and various State and Regional championships.
